Glenvale’s West Baldwin Solar Station Issued Conditional Use Permit

Glenvale’s West Baldwin Solar Station Issued Conditional Use Permit

West Baldwin Solar Station was issued a Conditional Use Permit in Baldwin on May 14th, after a vote taken by the Planning Board on May 13th. We thank the town staff and Planning Board for their commitment to clean energy, and for their thorough and professional investigation of the project. Glenvale applied for permit in December 2020, and the hearing was opened in April, after a weather-delayed site visit held in March.

We are pleased to see this first permit issued for the project, on schedule, and with prudent conditions. We expect to complete the entitlement process for the project shortly.

A hearing is scheduled on June 8th for the Conditional Use Permit in Hiram.

West Baldwin Solar Station Submits Municipal Permit Applications

West Baldwin Solar Station Submits Municipal Permit Applications

Glenvale has been scheduled to meet with the Baldwin and Hiram Planning Boards to discuss our recent CUP Applications for West Baldwin Solar Station in each community.

We expect to meet with the Baldwin Planning Board on 01/14/21 and the Hiram Planning board on 01/26/21.

Working with planning boards and the public are amongst our favorite aspects of solar development. We have put great thought into planning a project that responsibly uses privately owned land and existing electric infrastructure to generate clean energy.

We look forward to working with the community and all stakeholders to complete the entitlement of this exciting project.

Maine PUC Issues Order Approving PPAs Between Central Maine Power and Glenvale

Maine PUC Issues Order Approving PPAs Between Central Maine Power and Glenvale

Glenvale is very pleased that the Maine Public Utility Commission (MPUC) has issued three orders approving the contracts between the Central Maine Power (CMP), and three Glenvale project companies. The Glenvale projects are West Baldwin Solar Station, Emery Meadow Solar Station, and Topsham Meadow Solar Station.

The projects collectively represent over $30 million of local investment in rural communities in Maine, and will generate over 90 FTE construction jobs, and five FTE permanent jobs. They are expected to generate over 1,500,000 MWH of clean energy during the contract period. All while saving money for Maine ratepayers, with low and steady power prices.

We have enjoyed working with CMP and the MPUC teams on getting these contracts finalized. We thank both for the confidence they have placed in Glenvale. We look forward to now bringing clean energy and meaningful economic opportunity to Maine, and the communities of Baldwin, Hiram, Buxton and Topsham.

Maine PUC Selects 17 Projects, Including Three Glenvale Projects, for Renewable Energy PPAs

Maine PUC Selects 17 Projects, Including Three Glenvale Projects, for Renewable Energy PPAs

The Maine Public Utility Commission (MPUC) today selected seventeen renewable energy projects to enter into PPAs with Central Maine Power and Versant Power. The selections were made under the RPS Tranche 1 Procurement, launched in February 2020, and authorized by An Act To Reform Maine’s Renewable Portfolio Standard, P.L. 2019, Chapter 477.

These PPAs will ensure the development of many new solar and wind projects throughout Maine, will generate many millions of dollars of economic activity in rural communities, and help Maine achieve its clean energy goals. And with average PPA rates beginning at $35 per megawatt hour, the projects will also save Maine ratepayers money.

Glenvale is honored to be the developer of some of the selected projects, and we look forward to working with the MPUC and CMP to execute the PPAs. We are excited to bring clean energy and critical economic development to the communities of Baldwin, Hiram, Buxton and Topsham.
